In Burgundy, aside from the Beaujolais area (not part of the true Burgundy Wine Region) and a few exceptions, only two grapes are used: Chardonnay for white wines and Pinot Noir for red wines

However, of all the great wine regions it is one of the most complex ones to decipher but also one of the most fascinating wine regions. With its myriad vineyard crus and its huge number of wine producers, Burgundy offers incredible variation in quality and style. Tonight, we are fortunate to have with us Akos Forczek, Managing Director of ‘Top Selection’, the wine company he founded in 2000. Born in Hungary, speaking five languages fluently, he is a graduate in Economics from Budapest University and holder of a MBA from INSEAD, but Akos’ real passion is wine. In the wine trade since 1992, Akos has acquired a great knowledge of many wine regions which he regularly visits to build his wine portfolio. Tonight, Akos will lead us through several of the small and exciting Burgundy wine producers who he represents in the UK.
