Franck, with a partner, produces a delicious red wine from their own vineyard in the famed Priorat area and tonight will share with us some delicious Spanish wines from his portfolio.

In October 1994, when the first Hotel du Vin was opened in Winchester by Gerard Basset OBE and his business partner, Robin Hutson, a young French man called Franck Massard took the position of Sommelier to assist Gerard. (Franck had already been working with Gerard at Chewton Glen) After a year, Franck went to work in a Country House Hotel (Middlethorpe Hall) in the North of England as Head Sommelier. During his time there Franck won the 1996 UK Sommelier of the Year competition.

A year later, Franck decided to try London and so worked three years as Head Sommelier for the Michelin Star restaurant, Orrery, at the time part of Sir Terence Conrad’s restaurant empire. By then Franck was ready for a totally new challenge and he moved to Spain and became International Ambassador for the world renowned wine house of Miguel Torres.

Eight years later, Franck left to become both a wine producer and a wine negociant. With a partner, Franck produces a delicious red wine from their own vineyard in the famed Priorat area (recently awarded 92 points by Mr Robert Parker) and, for his negoce business, he tours Spain to select some winegrowers with whom he works on the wine style and who he then represents abroad.

Tonight, we are delighted to have Franck here to share with us his vast experience and some delicious Spanish wines from his portfolio.

If you’d like to make the most of this enjoyable wine event, there’s a special rate for those attending of only £125 per bedroom (including full TerraVina breakfast) for the Sunday night.
You might also be tempted to stay Monday as well, in which case, we’ll make the temptation overwhelming with an offer of only £205.00 per bedroom (including dinner, bed and full English breakfast) for the Monday evening.
The Sunday and Monday night rates are only available to those who attend the event and include VAT but do not include drinks and incidentals.
