‘The Best Sommelier in the World’ will be talking to us about his amazing experience in winning the world championship in 2010 in Santiago, Chile.

This is an extra special treat for wine lovers and a real inspiration. Gerard beat off considerable competition from 51 other contestants and survived a demanding 40 minutes of practical tests to win the world title crown.

After his victory, Gerard commented, “It's the most difficult thing I've ever done. In the end I just thought I'm going to enjoy it and make the judges happy, even if I don't win. I feel as if I am on another planet. I was determined to do well this year. Competing was exciting, nerve-racking and thrilling. I just thought: 'I'm going to enjoy it and make the judges happy, even if I don't win.”
