We are absolutely delighted and very honoured that Jon Sopel has accepted to host for us this exceptional evening. Jon and Gerard first met in 1995 when Jon chose the Hotel du Vin in Winchester to launch his biography on Tony Blair. Jon started his career in Southampton at BBC Radio Solent. Later on, he hosted Breakfast News on BBC1. He was the BBC's chief political correspondent, headed for three years the Paris office of the BBC, and has covered some of the most important events in recent history such as the tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, the death of the Pope, the Afghanistan War, the Iraq War and the conflict on the Lebanon and Israel border. He now presents the Politics Show on BBC1 and was voted Political Journalist of the Year in 2007.He is also one of the senior anchors on the News Channel during the week.
Jon Sopel is an Ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and a Trustee of the Citizenship Foundation.
Tonight, after a three course dinner and wines chosen by Gerard, Jon will comment on life on the fron tline of political reporting and will give you an insight into the key political personalities of our generation. An evening not to miss!
Our wine dinners take place in our Rutherford Bench private room. The layout of the room is made up of three large tables, each table accommodating a maximum of 12 people. On that basis, small parties, couples or single guests will be seated together to form a table of 12.
Special Sunday Night and Monday Night Rates
If you’d like to make the most of this enjoyable wine event, there’s a special rate for those attending of only £110 per bedroom (including full English breakfast) for the Sunday night.
You might also be tempted to stay Monday as well, in which case, we’ll make the temptation overwhelming with an offer of only £195.00 per bedroom (including dinner, bed and full English breakfast) for the Monday evening.
The Sunday and Monday night rates are only available to those who attend the evening with John Sopel and include VAT but do not include drinks and incidentals.
