Usually, they grow their grapes organically (or biodynamically) to avoid the use of chemicals. The same philosophy is carried on in the winery by making the wine as natural as possible. The growers minimize (as much as possible) interfering with nature. For instance, they do not use cultivated yeasts, acidify their wines or use too much oak. They also work very carefully to not add SO2 (the common antiseptic and anti-oxidant used in most wines) or at the very least just a much lower dose than is usually used in other wineries.
These wines are very difficult to produce and require great skills. They can be a little unstable and therefore need to be stored in a chilled place. They do not always age very well. They can also deliver fairly unusual flavours, which can be quite disconcerting the first time you try them and they might not be for every-ones taste.
However, they can be incredibly fruity and very pure. Because of their very low sulphur level they are ideal for people suffering from asthma and they tend to give people less headaches. They are well worth trying.
Tonight, we are fortunate to have with us Doug Wregg, one of the leading experts and proponents of this category of wines in the UK. I have known Doug for a number of years and have been fortunate to taste with him at professional trade tastings. Doug is highly passionate and extremely articulate on any subject related to wine, but even more when it comes to ‘Natural Wines’. Doug will comment on his wines selection for us during dinner.

If you’d like to make the most of this enjoyable wine event, there’s a special rate for those attending of only £125 per bedroom (including full TerraVina breakfast) for the Sunday night.
You might also be tempted to stay Monday as well, in which case, we’ll make the temptation overwhelming with an offer of only £205.00 per bedroom (including dinner, bed and full English breakfast) for the Monday evening.
The Sunday and Monday night rates are only available to those who attend the event and include VAT but do not include drinks and incidentals.
