Peter Lehmann of the Barossa Valley Wine Dinner
May 17th 2009
With Andrew Wigan, Chief Wine Maker and giant of the Barossa
Four course dinner
£80 per person (also available as a gift voucher)
Aperitif from 7.00pm
Peter Lehmann is a true legend in the wine world and an icon of the Barossa Valley. During the difficult period of the late seventies and early eighties, some of the large Australian wine companies renaged on their agreements and refused to buy so much of the crop from the wine growers because of an over production of grapes. Peter Lehmann, however, though working as a manager for one of these big companies, took the side of the growers. In 1982, he set up Peter Lehmann Wines and made wines with the grapes from the growers to whom he had given his word to purchase their grapes.
To this day Peter Lehmann wines are typically Australian with a great generosity of flavours and wonderfully suave in texture. Tonight, we are privileged to have with us Chief Winemaker Andrew Wigan to comment through dinner on some of his delicious wines, including the prestigious Stonewell Shiraz!
Our wine dinners take place in our Rutherford Bench private room. The layout of the room is made up of three large tables, each table accommodating a maximum of 12 people. On that basis, small parties, couples or single guests will be seated together to form a table of 12.
