Last week Gerard and I attended a very glamorous awards ceremony; the Langtry Manor Business Awards, held at the Langtry Manor Hotel, in Bournemouth, a place I used to inspect many, many years ago. The awards are the brainchild of two very dynamic women, Tara Howard, Managing Director of Langtry Manor hotel and Jackie Phillipson of PPR Media Solutions and they both did a fantastic job, along with their team, in ensuring that the whole event was well organized, great fun and a huge success.
As is often the case at such events the caliber of nominees was very high. In fact in some categories, especially the Woman of the Year Award, I cannot imagine how the judges came to their decision as to whom the overall winner would be as all three nominees were very worthy contenders. I sat next to the winner of that particular award, Natasha Jones and a lovelier, more inspiring woman I don’t think I have ever met. She created a charity called LEAF, www.leafcharity.com from her hospital bed, having been diagnosed with Leaukemia after giving birth just 3 weeks earlier to her second son. She endured 4 types of chemotherapy, six months in an isolation ward and LEAF (Leukaemia Educating & Fundraising) was born out of her determination that if she survived she would help others and their families in similar situations. She did survive and five years on she has been given the “all clear”, has gone on to have a 3rd son and has indeed created her charity, which grows from strength to strength. She is a very lovely lady, who is so positive, so passionate, charming, kind and gentle in her manner and such a gracious winner that the whole room loved her and we were all inspired by her and so many others who also won awards for their courage, their determination, their passion and their tenacity.
A great evening was had by all. Tara and Jackie should be commended for such a terrific event- in fact they should both have won awards for being so special and many, many congratulations to all of the winners and also to the finalists in every category, all of whom were great, looked fabulous in their glamorous dresses and helped to ensure that the evening was an enormous success.
Well done all!
