I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Gerard and I were both going to be away from the hotel during part of July. Sadly we are not away together, although as we spend 7 days a week together, all day, almost every day, I suppose a break away from one another is not amiss from time to time…….I’m sure Gerard loves the peace and freedom to mis match his socks to his heart’s content!

Gerard is currently far away in New Zealand, on a busy wine trip, but with a great itinerary and I am sure he is having a sper trip and I am away with Romané on our annual trip to the sunny island of Minorca- we come here every year and meet up with the same friends; in fact for the boys they simply jump in the pool and carry on where they left off the year before- it is a relaxing and hugely enjoyable week away (10 days this year) and a chance for Suzi and the team to all take a sigh of relief- Suzi gets to “own” the hotel in our absence and I suppose the team feel like teenagers let loose whilst their parents are away.

It has to be said that Suzi has a tricky job working with Gerard and I. She is the GM, employed to manage the hotel on our behalf , but actually we are there with her every day, being annoyingly hands on- she manages us very well and shows great patience and diplomacy…. I asked her last week who was the “Good Cop and who was the Bad Cop” in relation to Gerard and I, and she quipped back with the fact it very much depended on what day of the week it is!

So a note to Suzi, enjoy having the hotel all to yourself. We are relaxed in the knowledge that you are at the helm and we look forward to seeing you all very soon.
