We are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of baby Eva Louise Harvey, who is the first baby of Chris, (one of our super assistant managers) and his wife Robyn. Eva weighed in at 6lbs and 15oz and both Mum and babe are well and the family are deliriously happy, as are we as Eva is one of only very few TerraVina babies and we are so excited to met her very soon. Many, many congratulations to Robyn and Chris.
This week is an exciting one, not least because of Eva’s birth, but also because we are hosting our joint 10in8 and Hotel TerraVina event. The first restaurant evening is Wednesday 29th February and we host two further evenings and a Friday lunchtime too. Our private dining room, The Rutherford Bench has been re-created as a fine dining restaurant, the tables look lovely and we are all looking forward to welcoming 22 guests to each event.
There has been a considerable amount of logistical planning to make the event work- our huge tables have been collected and out in storage, small tables have been hired in, we are sharing crockery and other items between ourselves and L’Ortolan, (Alan’s Michelin starred restaurant, in Reading). Table linen has been ordered in (we are out of practice with ironing table cloths!) and to top it all our steamer oven and our dishwasher in the 2nd kitchen, (of course the one in use for the event) have both broken down. The steamer is repairable, but we have to await a part until next week and one of our dishwashers has died, but thanks to Chris, a very switched on engineer from Eastleigh Services, he has managed to save the day; thanks too to Kevin, from Outside Catering Hire, who at the very last minute helped out with changing sizes of hired tables at the drop of a hat and with no fuss or bother, so all in all a few challenges along the way, but that is what makes being a hotelier interesting. Alan Murchison and his team will be working with Neil and our chefs, who are excited to be sharing their kitchens.
Thus all in all, an exciting start to a new month and the fact that Spring is just around the corner makes it even nicer.
