This will be the last blog of 2013 and I have to say that I am looking forward to seeing the back of this year- it has had many highs, not least the most special being Gerard’s award of Decanter Man of the Year, George’s award from the Good Food Guide, of Chef to Watch in 2014, Romané’s numerous awards and achievements and all sorts of other positive and pleasant happenings too numerous to mention.
However, just as most years, there have also been some lows, some more of a “body blow” than others. On going legal battles, the realization that not everyone we deal with are as honest and trustworthy as we would hope, trees crushing cars, (thankfully no- one was injured), treasured team members “flying the coop” for new and exciting adventures, but who are very much missed and most poignant of all, varied dear friends and colleagues battling with serious illness and coping with bereavement. So on balance it’s been a bit of a mixed bag of a year and I am sincerely hoping that 2014 may bring a little more calm, balance and positivity, as well as good health and much contentment to those near and dear to us.
That said there’s certainly not been a dull moment and whilst life feeling like a rollercoaster can make you feel a bit dizzy on occasion it certainly cannot be called dull!
So all that remains is for me to thank you all so much for your encouragement, support, enthusiasm for the hotel and the team and for reading my blog- it is hugely appreciated and always great to read comments from you all.
We hope to see many of you in the New Year and please do keep up to date with all our news and special offers by reading our newsletter and website, as we have some fantastic mid week rates up our sleeves in readiness for the New Year, starting immediately from 1st January, so hurry back and come visit us soon.

Till next year!
Nina, Gerard, Chris and all the Team
Ps: many congrats to my mate Philippa Robinson and her friend Mel Hatton who
have recently successfully completed the Land’s End to John O’Groats classic
car Tour ‘Le Jog’, with all of their hard won donations going to raise
much-needed funds for Naomi House and Rosewood Free School, (adjacent to our
own adopted charity, Rose Road Association) which will enhance the lives of
the children using the facilities. If you want to read all about their
fantastic achievements then here is the link:
Well done Philippa and Mel- brilliant achievement!
