Gerard, myself and all at Hotel TerraVina have been supporters of The Rose Road Association since 2008, when we were introduced to this very special place and determined to make it the hotel’s adopted charity. We have subsequently held fund raising wine dinners, (we have another planned on Sunday 17th June, with Anthony Hanson, MW, the famous auctioneer at Christies, so please do look at the website for further details www.hotelteravina.co.uk/winevents ), hosted wine tastings and generally tried to support them as much as we can. They have become great friends of the hotel and the work they do is very necessary and absolutely incredible in terms of the care they offer and their dedication to the children and families they support.
Thus we were very proud, in this their Diamond Jubilee celebratory year, to be invited to attend a very special morning, on Friday 23rd March, at Rose Road, in the company of HRH Earl of Wessex. We were thrilled to share in the childrens’ assembly, to see a video of how they learn and experience sensations that we all take completely for granted in our daily lives and to join in with their morning routine, in the presence of a special guest, Prince Edward. The Prince was very friendly, charming and had a lovely, natural way when talking to the children, many of whom are very profoundly disabled and their dedicated carers.
It is always a pleasure to visit Rose Road and see the amazing care, love and attention that each child is given. They are cherished by very special people and the children themselves are exceptionally special.
The event gave Rose Road yet another opportunity to shine and indeed it did- it is an exceptional charity and Gerard and I feel very privileged to be involved with them, albeit in our small way.
For those who aren’t aware of the fantastic work that Rose Road does, please do have a look at their website, www.roseroad.org.uk
Till next week
