If you go down to the woods today you’ll surely find a surprise… The soon to open, “Dining Room at TerraVina” has a trick up its sleeve and his name is George.

I hinted to my faithful blog readers (thank you for reading week after week), that we had a new and exciting project to reveal soon… well I am thrilled to let you all know that we are opening a new, finer dining option at TerraVina, in addition to the hotels’ ever popular, main restaurant, now headed up by Lewis King and his team.

Thus, drum roll please………..We are delighted to announce that with the arrival of our new Executive chef, George Blogg,  “The Dining Room at TerraVina”, will compliment the hotel’s main restaurant and will open from mid January 2013. (we are open in December for some special, pre-opening dates and some of you may well be coming along to those already)

“The Dining Room at TerraVina” will be open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings. The restaurant will offer a nine or twelve course tasting menu comprising of dishes using foraged and fresh produce, exclusively from Hampshire and Dorset, which can be paired with wines specially selected by Gerard and his wine team.  Open for dinner only from 7pm to 9pm and priced at  £72 (nine course) or £85 (twelve course) per head (excluding wines).

Over the past couple of days we have had two ”practice runs”, with some of our fantastic, regular guests volunteering to be our first tasters; the feedback has been brilliant. The menu is innovative, the presentation fun and quirky. There is a real talking point to the whole feast and once the rooms’ refurbishment is properly completed, we think it will be a very different and special place to enjoy and well worth coming down to the woods to play! Exec chef, George Blogg, is a super chap, born and bred in Dorset. He joins us having previously been the sous chef at the 2 Michelin starred, highly acclaimed, Champignon Sauvage Restaurant. Having also worked for two years at another 2 Michelin star restaurant, The Square in London, we are very excited by George and his expertise. We feel very fortunate to have him with us. Besides from his degree in Geology, he also brings a passion and enthusiasm for food which is infectious and we love all of the forest foraged treats he is tempting us with.
