The Penfolds Dinner with Mr Pieter du Toit
Penfolds is a truly historic name of the Australian wine industry. The company was founded in 1844 by Christopher Rawson Penfold, a young English doctor. Having migrated to Australia with his wife Mary, they bought the Mackgill (original spelling) Estate near Adelaide and quickly it was Mary who found herself in charge of wine making. The early wines made from Grenache were prescribed as a tonic to anaemic patients.
Philipponnat Dinner with Charles Philipponnat
Situated in the commune of Mareuil sur Aÿ, the house of Philipponnat was founded in 1910. Not very well known by the average Champagne drinker, it is a house that has a cult following amongst the Champagne aficionados and true connoisseurs, especially, for its exceptional cuvée ‘Clos des Goisses’. ‘Clos des Goisses’ is a walled vineyard bought by the company in 1935 in the best hillside of Mareuil sur Aÿ.
California is a magnificent state with wonderful products, superb restaurants (Hotel TerraVina was inspired by the magic of California) and sensational wines. Jess Jackson, who died in 2011, was an incredible man. In a relatively short period of time, he established The Kendall-Jackson brand as one of the leading California wine brands.
The house of Torres is a monument and belongs to the great wine producers of the world. Miguel Torres, who has been in charge of the estate for several years, is a true visionary. Not only has he continually strived to make Torres wines some of the best wines on the International market, with many of his delicious Spanish wines gaining numerous prestigious prizes and awards
